The SD38 Youth Train in Trades Baking & Pastry Arts program is offered through a partnership with Vancouver Community College (VCC) and provides students an opportunity to receive the first of three levels needed to acquire Red Seal certification in this trade.  In this creative and demanding program, students learn about the preparation of general baking (pies, cookies) with a specialization in patisserie (cakes & pastries), breads and doughs.  This program starts in July between grades 11 and 12 (offered only in first semester).

Program Details

  • Applicants must attend mandatory info session - Thursday, February 22nd, 2024 from 5:00-6:30pm at VCC (Pender Campus)
  • Interviews April 29th and 30th @ VCC
  • Earn 20 high school credits (5 courses) at the grade 12 level
  • Earn level 1 technical training with SkilledTradesBC (Baker)
  • School District #38 covers VCC tuition costs for this program
  • Students are responsible for the cost of program learning resources, uniform, baking kit, and any applicable student fees
