Welding Program

The SD38 Youth Train in Trades Welding program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely and effectively using a variety of welding processes and procedures. Welders operate welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals.  At the end of the Foundation program students will write the Welder Certificate of Completion exam. Students who complete the Foundation program and exam are eligible for SkilledTradesBC credit in Welder Level 1 and Level 2 technical training and 300 work-based hours.  Students must commute daily to KPU (Kwantlen) Cloverdale Campus and are encouraged to have their own driver’s license.

Program Details

  • 28 weeks full-time February - August
  • students attend KPU Cloverdale Campus full-time (Mon-Thurs 10:00am - 5:00pm)
  • receive 24 grade 12 credits (6 courses)
  • earn levels 1 and 2 technical training with SkilledTradesBC (Welder) and 300 work-based training hours
