WHO SHOULD APPLY?  STUDENTS WHO:

  • Will be in Grade 11 or 12 next school year
  • Feel they have any type of barrier to university entry (academically, socio-economically etc.)
  • May or may not be on track to graduate or meet university entrance requirements
  • Will be available to attend class during Spring Break 2025

The STRIVE program supports EVERYONE, and offers built in supports, including an in-class tutor to assist anyone needing help with the course content.

Students take the IDEA 1100 course at the KPU Richmond Campus one night per week from January - April 2026 (From 4-7pm every Wednesday).  This is a university transferable course.  Students must be available over spring break.

IDEA 1100 COURSE DESCRIPTION

Exploring Self and World: Transcultural, Creative & Interdisciplinary Inquiry

In this course, students will focus on awareness and knowledge, skills and capacities that support self-discovery and broader understanding of the world. Students will have the opportunity to explore transcultural, creative and interdisciplinary inquiry to further personal, social, academic and professional development. Course themes will be explored by way of student-generated dialogue, creativity-based exercises, experiential activities, and student-centred assignments.

NOTE:  For those currently qualifying for and aiming to go to university, you are encouraged to consider our "LinK38" dual credit program.  Applications and course options for LinK38 available in late Spring.
