Carpentry (Framing & Forming)
The SD38 Youth Train in Trades Carpentry Framing and Forming Foundation program, in partnership with BCIT, trains students in basic theory and offers hands on shop experience enabling students to become competent in basic carpentry tasks. Students learn how to construct, install, finish & repair wooden framed residential and commercial buildings. They are trained to frame floors, walls and roofs and how to build stairs. Upon successful completion of this program, along with the required work experience, students will receive the first of four levels towards their Red Seal certification.

Program Details
- 23 weeks full-time; February – July (second semester)
- students attend BCIT full-time with students from other school districts and adults
- receive 20 grade 12 credits (4 courses) and BCIT credits
- earn level 1 technical training with SkilledTradesBC (Carpenter) as well as 450 work-based hours
